iQcontacts provides the functions provided in the built in Contacts application, and many more features: Reminders, Smart Lookup, Recent List, etc.

Although a photo and a birthday can be viewed in iQcontacts, editing them needs to be done in Contacts.

If a name is highlighted in Lookup View, or you are viewing a record:

Press the right navigation button to open the Dialing screen. If the number you want to call is selected, press the center button to dial it. Otherwise, select the number you want to dial, and press the center button to dial it.

It is best to run iQcontacts in place of the Contacts application.

On some Treo / Centro devices it uses the Contacts Tab in the Phone Application to launch iQcontacts.

On other Treo / Centro devices this is displayed on a Favorite button.

On Palm (non smart phones) organizers, the Contacts Hard Button will launch iQcontacts.

If your Palm does not launch iQcontacts in the above way, then tap iQcontacts from the main menu, tap the top left corner of the screen. From the Options menu, select iQcontacts Prefs. In the iQcontacts Preferences screen, make sure that Launch with Contacts Button is checked.

Tap the Contacts icon from the Applications Launcher screen (Home).

You can lookup records based on the First Name, Last Name, or Company Name, without needing to re-sort the Contacts list. You can also lookup a record using a combination of First Name and Last Name.

When you start to enter a name in the Smart field, the first matching record will be selected, and the matching characters will be highlighted.

As you enter more text, the number of matching records will be reduced. If you see the Contact you want, just tap it, or as soon as you enter enough letters to uniquely identify a name, the record will automatically be opened.

In Stylus Free lookup you can easily lookup names without using the keyboard, and without needing the stylus.

Use your finger to tap the large buttons, and quickly find a name. Each button has 3 or 4 letters. Just tap the button that contains the letter that you want to enter. The records that match these buttons will be displayed.

Tap the ? button to enter any character that is not a letter. This includes spaces, numbers, and punctuation.

Tap the Clear button to delete the last character entered. Keep it pressed until you hear a beep (about 1/2 second), to delete all of the characters that have been entered.

To switch to Stylus Free lookup from Smart lookup, tap the abc... button.
Switch back to Smart lookup by tapping the Back Arrow button.

The buttons that are used to lookup names can be on either side of the screen. This makes it convenient for both left handed and right handed people.

Run iQcontacts, tap the top left corner of the screen. From the Options menu, select iQcontacts Prefs. To change the position, either check or uncheck the Keypad on Right Side checkbox in the iQcontacts Preferences screen

These are the records in your Recent Number List. Your Recent Number List will be displayed in a different color, and shown at the top of the screen each time you run iQcontacts.

iQcontacts keeps track of the contacts that you recently looked up. Each time you run iQcontacts, up to ten recent numbers are displayed at the beginning of the list. This makes it very easy to find the phone number of someone who you recently looked up.

A record can be inserted into the Recent Number List whenever you view the record. If you want the record to be included in the Recent Number List make sure the Recent List checkbox is checked before you close the record.

Tap the desired record. When the record is opened, you will see the Recent List checkbox in the Title Bar. Uncheck the Recent List checkbox, and tap the OK button. The record will be removed from the Recent Number List.

You can up to 10 records in the Recent Number List.

The new record will get inserted, and the last record that was in the list will be deleted. The records in the Recent Number List are shown in the order of most recent use. The most recently opened number will be shown on the top line, and the others will follow.

You can uncheck the Recent List checkbox, and then the record won't be inserted into the Recent Number List.

Run iQcontacts, tap the top left corner of the screen. From the Options menu, select iQcontacts Prefs. In the iQcontacts Preferences screen, make sure that Auto Insert into Recent List is not checked.

A Reminder is an alarm that you can set for any record in your iQcontacts. You specify the time that the alarm will ring, and a one line message that will be displayed when the alarm sounds. In addition to the one line message, the name of the person and all of their phone numbers will be displayed when the alarm rings.

This is a very convenient way to remember to call someone at a certain time, and you can dial the number immediately when the reminder is displayed.

In Smart lookup, tap the button, and you will see a list of all the reminders that are set in chronological order. Tap any one of them to view the details or to modify it.

Once you select the desired contact, tap the button, and then tap the Appointment button. Specify the date and time for the appointment, and alarm info. You can modify the text that is highlighted.

Once you tap the Insert Event button, a virtual link to the current record will be created automatically in the Calendar.

First do the following: run iQcontacts, and tap the top left corner of the screen. From the Options menu, select iQcontacts Prefs. In the iQcontacts Preferences screen, make sure that iQcontacts Pop-Up Enabled is checked.

On Centro and Treo devices, other than the Treo 650, press the Option key (next to the letter z) followed by the Send button (green button) to pop-up iQcontacts.

On the Treo 650, you must map the Option button. To do this, tap the Prefs icon and select the Buttons category. On the right side of the screen, select the button that you want to be used for popping-up iQcontacts. You can then press Option and the selected button to pop-up iQcontacts.

On Palm devices with graffiti, you need to do a Command Stroke to pop-up the Command Bar (the Command Stroke is a stroke from the bottom left corner of the Graffiti area, to the top right corner). Then tap the iQcontacts icon on the Command Bar (usually it will be the left-most icon), to pop-up iQcontacts.

A Virtual Link allows you to directly access a certain record in iQcontacts from almost any application on your Palm.

Before you create a Virtual Link, run iQcontacts, and tap the top left corner of the screen. From the Options menu, select iQcontacts Prefs. In the iQcontacts Preferences screen, make sure that iQcontacts Pop-Up Enabled is checked.

From within any application (e.g., Calendar), place your cursor in any empty field, pop-up iQcontacts, lookup a name, and open it. Then tap the Insert button. This will insert a Virtual Link into application.

There is an on-line Help Menu located conveniently in iQcontacts, to let you learn about the various features while you are on the go!

Run iQcontacts, tap the top left corner of the screen, and select Help.

Select any feature from the Help menu, and you will see useful information about that feature. This will help you get the most out of iQcontacts.

iQcontacts is based on the built in Contacts application. The iQcontacts User Manual does not cover any features that are identical to the features in the Contacts application. See the documentation that came with your Palm for additional information about the operation of Contacts.

The same color scheme on one Palm, may look very different on another Palm.

Run iQcontacts, tap the top left corner of the screen. From the Options menu, select Color Settings. Tap the Use Default Colors button. If you don't like the way it looks, you can modify each of the four different colors individually until you find a combination that suits you.

You can beam iQcontacts to these devices:

The receiving organizer will be able to use iQcontacts for the 30 day trial period (unless they had it beforehand). Position the two organizers, so that the Infra Red port of the receiving organizer is within two feet of the sending organizer.

From the main application screen (screen with all the icons):
Tap the top left corner of the screen (where you see the time displayed) .

A drop down menu appears, Select Beam from the App menu. Scroll down and select iQcontacts, and tap the Beam button.

The receiving organizer will sense the transmitted data, and will begin receiving it. On the receiving organizer, when the transmission is completed, you will be prompted with a screen that asks: Do you want to accept iQcontacts into Applications? Tap Yes to store iQcontacts on the receiving organizer. Wait for the Status dialog box to indicate that the transfer is complete.

Features have been added in both iQcontacts and DateBk6 to integrate the two applications seamlessly. In order for the integration to work, open DateBk6, select Preferences from the Options menu, and tap the Split tab. Enter PTpm in the Addr CreatID field (at the bottom of the screen).

The User Defined Search feature allows you to create searches based on any field in your Contacts. Initially there will four pre-defined searches: State, Country, Search, and PhoneNum. Tap the Smart button, and select the one you want.

To create a new search, tap *Define Search* and tap the New button. See the User's Manual for more details.

Run iQcontacts, tap the top left corner of the screen. From the Record menu, select View New Records.
